Frames FAQ
Do you have branded frames?
All of our frames are HALOOL branded frames.
What are the most popular or trendy frames?
As an online eyewear buying brand that celebrates fashionability and individuality, you can rest assured that you will be able to choose your favorite frames on the home page, which are carefully styled by our designers to match the most popular frame trends of the moment.
Can I get frames in different colors and sizes?
Most of our frames are available in multiple colors. If other color options are available, they will be shown in the top corner of the frame preview or below the frame on the product page.
Most of our frames come in one size, but some come in multiple sizes. If this is the case, details will be listed under the product description. When searching for frames, you can also use the size filter to filter by frame size.
Will this frame fit my prescription?
When you select a frame and proceed to order that frame, our website will alert you if the frame does not fit your prescription.
I have a lot of frames I like. How do I save them?
To save your favorite frame, click on the heart icon to save the frame to your favorites. You can also view it in your account under "My Wishlist".
How to find your frame size?
How to measure the size?
Not sure what size your glasses are?
If you already have frames that fit, you can measure the frame size with a millimeter ruler or cloth tape measure.
Frame width: the width of the frame between the two temples.
Lens width: The horizontal diameter of the lens. Doctors may refer to this as "eye size".
Lens height: The vertical height of the highest point of the lens.
Nose Width: The portion of the frame between the lenses that spans the bridge of the nose.
Lens leg length: The length of the lens leg that rests on the ear, from the screw on the hinge to the end.
What do the numbers on my frame mean?
Some manufacturers will print on the inside of the temples a a series of three numbers. These numbers indicate the lens width, the nose bridge size, and the length of the temples in millimeters.
Knowing these numbers can help you choose similarly sized lenses when buying new frames.
How To Choose a Frame Material
Choosing the best frame material depends on the features you are looking for. The following categories can help you decide:
Weight
If you want an ultra-light frame, choose one that weighs 15 grams or less. Many of our plastic and metal frames are lightweight.
Material
You can choose between metal or plastic. Metal tends to be lighter. Plastic frames tend to be more durable
Colors
Plastic frames tend to have more color options, especially acetate, which is made from plant-based plastic that is strong, flexible and comfortable to wear. Another advantage of acetate frames is their vibrant colors and patterns - so style won't be an issue!

Lenses
Lenses & Lens Types FAQ
What are polycarbonate(PC)lenses?
Polycarbonate lenses are impact resistant, stronger and lighter than standard lenses, making them ideal for use in children's and sports eyewear, or for anyone who doesn't take their eyewear seriously. Polycarbonate lenses offer good protection because they are less prone to breakage and can absorb larger impacts, reducing the risk of eye injuries.
What is the difference between color-changing lenses, polarized lenses and tinted lenses?
Photochromic lenses are clear indoors and darken in color outdoors.
Tinted lenses are so thorough that only one tint is needed, indoors or outdoors.
Polarized lenses are the same color indoors and outdoors and work better than tinted lenses to filter out harmful UV rays.
Select Prescription Lens Type
Some people need to see at a distance as well as read. Instead of getting a pair of mono-optic glasses for each situation, progressive glasses may be a more convenient option. Unlike monoculars, progressives are multifocal lenses with multiple focal points, such as distance and near.
People listed by number in the ADD section of their eyeglass prescription needprogressives or presbyopes. This is simply because your eyes need the extra diopters on top of your distance prescription to see up close.
Single-Vision
Single vision lenses are the most common type of prescription lens. This lens type is characterized by one field of view for the entire lens, or one prescription power, and is used to correct nearsightedness or farsightedness.

Things to know about presbyopes:
Presbyopes are not a replacement for corrective lenses; they are intended for near vision and reading only, not for driving, vehicle operation, or distance vision. Only a professional eye exam can determine your eye health and vision needs. Always consult an eye care professional for regular eye exams.
Progressives
Standard progressive lenses are multifocal lenses with three zones of vision: distance, intermediate and near. Unlike bifocal lenses, there is no visible boundary between each zone. They have a seamless, invisible design with a "progressive" change in power throughout the lens. Many people confuse "bifocals" or "trifocals" with "progressives," but the key is to remember that bifocals and trifocals have visible boundaries on the lens, while progressives do not.
Because progressive lenses do not have boundaries on the lenses, they are a more popular type of multifocal lens than bifocal lenses.
Progressive eyeglasses are typically for people over the age of 40 who already wear distance glasses but now need enhanced near vision for reading and enhanced mid-distance vision for computer use. Instead of having three pairs of glasses for each need, progressive lenses provide one-stop convenience.
The primary vision area of progressive lenses is distance, with a smaller area at the bottom of the lens for near vision and a smaller area in the center for intermediate distance vision. Standard progressive lenses are ideal for use in all-around eyewear, focusing on distance vision activities such as driving and walking, with enough area in the lens for near vision activities such as reading and computer use. The left and right sides of the lens, or "lobes," are intentionally blurred to achieve a stealthy design. The clearest vision in progressive lenses is from top to bottom in the center of the lens.
It usually takes some time to get used to wearing new progressive lenses. For new wearers, try getting used to your glasses gradually. Increase wearing time each day for the first 2-3 weeks to get used to the lenses. For example, wear them for 1-2 hours on the first day, then increase by 2 hours each day until you are comfortable. Try them on at home before driving. Remember, you will need to turn your head and move your eyes to find the "sweet spot" for the activity you are focusing on.
For experienced wearers, a new pair of progressive lenses - even of the same power - often requires readjustment. This is because progressive lenses, like shoes, are different. Like two leaves of a tree, they won't be exactly the same and won't feel the same due to shape, style, brand, fit, material, etc. Similarly, the design of the progressive lenses, the shape of the frames and many other factors will affect the adjustment period.
In short, it helps to wear your glasses as much as possible while adjusting to your new progressive lenses.
Lens Function
Polarized lenses
The principle of polarized lenses is based on the concept of polarized light. While natural light consists of light rays vibrating in many different directions, polarized light is light that vibrates in only one specific direction. Polarized lenses contain a direction of polarization inside them that allows only light from a specific direction to pass through, while blocking light from other directions. In this way, polarized lenses are effective in filtering out glare reflected from non-metallic surfaces, as well as strongly reflected light from water, snow, glass, and so on.
The uses of polarized lenses include:
Driving: Polarized lenses can reduce glare reflected from road surfaces, improving visual clarity and increasing safety when driving.
Outdoor activities: During outdoor activities such as fishing, skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities, polarized lenses can help reduce glare from water, snow, or other surfaces, providing a better visual experience.
Eye Protection: Polarized lenses can reduce eye exposure to intense light and protect the eyes from UV rays and other harmful rays.
Visual Comfort: For people who are sensitive to light, polarized lenses can reduce eye fatigue and discomfort caused by glare.
When choosing polarized lenses, consider the visual needs and lifestyle of the individual. Polarized lenses are available in different colors and transmittances and can be selected for different light conditions and activity environments. Polarized lenses can also be combined with anti-reflective coatings and UV protection to provide more comprehensive visual protection and comfort.
Photochromic lenses
Photochromic lenses, also known as light-sensitive lenses. The core technology of color-changing lenses is photochromic material. When this material is exposed to ultraviolet or visible light, the molecular structure changes, which causes a change in color. When the intensity of light increases, the molecular structure in the photochromic material changes, making the lenses darker; when the intensity of light decreases, the molecular structure returns to its original state and the lenses become lighter in color. This process is reversible, so color-changing lenses are able to achieve automatic adjustment.
(1) Protect your eyes:Photochromic lenses can adjust the amount of light entering your eyes in real time, reduce the irritation of bright light to your eyes, protect your eyes from UV rays, and reduce the risk of cataracts, macular degeneration and other eye diseases.
(2) Improve visual comfort under bright light:Under strong light environment, photochromic lenses can darken quickly, reduce glare, make eyes feel comfortable and reduce fatigue.
(3) Adapt to different light conditions:Photochromic lenses can automatically adjust the color shade according to the light intensity, so that the eyes can get clear vision in different light environments.
(4) Fashionable and practical:HALOOL photochromic lenses are not only practical, but also available in a variety of colors and styles to meet your needs for fashion.
FAQ

Blue light blocking lenses
What is Blue Light?
In contrast to UV light, blue light is emitted all around us every day - both indoors and outdoors, from the screens of our digital devices to the sun, blue light is the largest source of light. Prolonged exposure to certain wavelengths can cause eye strain and discomfort, but don't worry! Our blue light filtering glasses and computer screen glasses can reduce your exposure to potentially harmful blue light. Learn how to choose the best lenses for your blue light prescription glasses.
How does blue light affect us?
Our constant contact with smartphones, tablets, and laptops can lead to headaches, sore eyes, and a stiff neck - all symptoms of digital eye strain. Spending most of our waking hours in front of a screen, combined with the harmful blue-violet light* emitted by digital devices, it's no surprise that our eyes are working harder than ever.
*Disclaimer: Harmful blue violet light is between 415-455nm.
If you've ever worried about the effects of digital screens on your eyes, you've probably heard of "blue light" and maybe even searched for ways to protect your eyes from it. Blue light glasses (or blue light blocking glasses) are becoming increasingly popular because they claim to protect the eyes from potential damage - but how effective are they at keeping your eyes healthy? Here, we'll take a closer look at the scientific research behind blue light glasses and whether or not they actually work.
Protect your eyes with blue light filtering glasses
Our over-the-counter and prescription blue light filtering glasses, as well as our prescription computer glasses, are designed to protect your eyes from long-term exposure to harmful blue-violet light. Whether you wear them to play games, work late into the night or binge-watch your favorite shows, blue light filtering glasses and computer glasses are the perfect choice.
How to get them?
-No Prescription: If you don't have a prescription and just need blue light blocking lenses, choose No Prescription.
-For the required prescription lenses, you can choose the prescription type and fill in the information according to the prescription given to you by your doctor.
Anti-glare lenses/ Glare-free lenses
The main function of anti-glare lenses is to reduce the reflection and scattering of bright light when it hits the lens, thus reducing the irritation of light to the eyes and improving visual comfort and clarity. The principle of operation is usually realized by applying a special anti-glare coating to the surface of the lens.
Anti-glare lenses are especially suitable for outdoor activities, driving, facing the computer and other work and life scenes, can effectively reduce the glare and screen reflections on the eyes, to provide a more comfortable and clear visual experience.
FAQ
Will anti-glare lenses darken your vision?
The anti-glare lenses offered by HALOOL are designed to optimize light transmission without significantly affecting the brightness of your field of vision. Instead, they reduce reflected and scattered light, improving visual clarity.
Refractive index of lenses
What do lens lens refractive index and high refractive index stand for?
The thickness of the lens is related to the lens index. We offer lenses with different indices. In general, the higher the index, the thinner and lighter the lens.
The lens index (1.50, 1.57, 1.53, 1.59, 1.61, 1.67 or 1.74) is the degree of refraction provided by the lens. This means how much light entering the lens is refracted (bent) as it passes through the lens. The lens index is also related to the thickness of the lens. The higher the index, the thinner the lens.
When you shop for lenses, HALOOL will provide you with the best refractive index options for your prescription!
Prescription
Prescriptions and PD FAQs
Do I need a prescription to order glasses from HALOOL?
When ordering HALOOL eyeglasses, you will need to provide your prescription and pupil distance (PD) measurements, except when ordering non-prescription eyeglasses or reading glasses.
How do I enter my prescription?
For your convenience, we offer a prescription upload option on our website or you can enter your prescription manually. When uploading or entering your prescription, be sure to check that all values and symbols (+/-) match your doctor's prescription before continuing.
What if I don't have a prescription on hand?
If you do not have a prescription, we recommend that you contact your eye care professional to obtain a copy.
Can I use an expired prescription to order eyeglasses from HALOOL?
We strongly advise against using an expired prescription. An expired prescription may not provide optimal vision. Regular eye exams are vital to maintaining eye health and visual clarity.
Can I order more than one pair of eyeglasses of different prescription in one order?
Absolutely! We make ordering eyeglasses easy for the whole family.
What if I have astigmatism?
Astigmatism is very common. We can make eyeglasses for every prescription, including astigmatism.
What is PD and why is it important?
Pupillary distance (PD) measures the distance between the centers of your pupils. Your PD is used to align the lens prescription with your pupil for optimal visual clarity and comfort when wearing eyeglasses. An incorrect PD can cause a variety of symptoms such as eye strain, blurred vision, nausea, double vision, and headaches.
What if my prescription includes single PD or double PD measurements?
If your prescription includes a single PD, it is a number that represents the combined measurements of both eyes. If you have dual PD, you will see two numbers, where the first number represents the right eye (OD) and the second number represents the left eye (OS). Be sure to enter the correct type of PD measurement when ordering your eyeglasses.
Can I change my prescription or PD after I place my order?
Be sure to double check your information before completing your order. If you need assistance with modifying/canceling your order, please contact our customer support team as soon as possible for assistance.
If you have any other questions about your prescription or PD, please feel free to contact us. We are always here to help.
How To Read and Enter Your Prescription
Have you ever squinted at your eyeglass prescription and been overwhelmed by the numbers and abbreviations? Have no fear! Navigating the world of prescriptions can be confusing, but we're here to help! Let us break down the components of your prescription and walk you through the process of entering your prescription to order the HALOOL eyeglasses that are right for you.
What does my prescription mean?
Your eyeglass prescription (Rx) contains important information to ensure that your eyeglasses meet your unique vision needs. Let's break down the key components:
OD/OS: These abbreviations stand for "Oculus Dexter" (right eye) and "Oculus Sinister" (left eye). They indicate which eye the latter value applies to.
SPH (Spherical): This value specifies the number of lens diopters needed to correct myopia (indicated by a minus sign "-") or hyperopia (indicated by a plus sign "+").
CYL (Columnar) and Axis: If your prescription contains these, you have astigmatism, a condition in which the cornea is irregularly shaped. Together, these values determine the lens correction needed to address this problem.
NV-ADD (Near Vision - Added Value): If this value is present, it indicates the additional magnification needed for near tasks, usually for bifocal or progressive lenses.
PD (Pupillary Distance): This measurement, in millimeters, indicates the distance between the centers of the pupils. This is critical to ensure that glasses are properly centered for optimal vision.
PD can be written as single PD (e.g. 62), double PD (e.g. 33/31) or distance PD/near PD (e.g. 62/60).
Prism: If present, prism correction addresses eye alignment issues and includes both prism and base values. The base value can be BO (base outward), BI (base inward), BU (base up) or BD (base down).
How Do I Enter My Prescription?
To order your prescription glasses, you need both your Rx and Pupillary Distance (PD). Follow these steps after choosing a frame:
Single visionIf your prescription does not have an ADD value (for progressive lenses), you may be able to order single vision glasses:
Select "Prescription" and then "Single Vision".
Select your PD (single or double PD).
Enter the SPH, CYL and AXIS values for OD and OS.
Customize your lenses and proceed to checkout.
Progressive LensesIf your prescription contains ADD values:
Select "Progressive" under "Select Prescription Type".
Select your PD (Single PD or Double PD).
Transfer the SPH, CYL, Axis and ADD values from your prescription to the order page.
Make sure the correct SPH and CYL symbols (+/-) are entered. ADD is always positive.
Customize your lenses as needed.
and enjoy your new glasses!
By following these steps, you will have the perfect customized eyewear for your vision needs. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via chat or phone and our team will be happy to assist you!
Understanding Your Pupillary Distance (PD)
Pupillary Distance (PD) measures the distance between the centers of the pupils. It is used to help accurately center prescription lenses in the frame so you can see clearly.
Why is PD Important for Your Glasses?
Correct alignment of the optical center of the lens with the pupil ensures that you get the best visual clarity and comfort when wearing your glasses. Accurate pupil distance measurement reduces eye strain and allows your eyes to focus more naturally. Incorrect pupil distance may result in distorted vision or discomfort.
What is Single PD or Double PD?
Single PD is the total measurement (in millimeters) from the center of one pupil to the center of the other. The format for single PD is as follows: 62 mm.
Bi-pupillary distance measures the distance from the center of each pupil to the center of the bridge of the nose. The format for double pupillary distance is as follows: 32/30 mm. The first number is always the right eye (OD) measurement and the second number is the left eye (OS) measurement. For progressive or bifocal lenses, the difference between the bi-pupillary distance values must not be greater than 3 mm.
For single vision lenses, the difference between the two PD values must not be greater than 5 mm.
Understanding Your Prescription: A Guide to Optical Abbreviations
Understanding your eyeglass prescription can be a bit like deciphering a secret code. To help you confidently order your glasses from HALOOL, here"s a handy list of optical abbreviations commonly found on prescriptions:
ADD (also NV-ADD): Near Vision Reading Addition, found on multifocal prescriptions. The ADD is the additional magnification used for bifocals or progressive glasses, single vision reading glasses, and computer (intermediate) vision glasses.
AR: Anti-Reflective; a coating that reduces reflection on the lenses.
BAL: The Rx calls for balance lenses, meaning the same Rx for each eye, often used when one eye has no sight.
BD, BI, BO, BU: Prism correction on your Rx; indicated with Δ and one of these four abbreviations. B stands for Base, indicating base down (BD), base in (BI), base out (BO), or base up (BU).
CYL: The Cylinder; in conjunction with AXIS, corrects astigmatism.
DS: Diopter Simplex; may be written in the CYL field if no astigmatism correction is needed.
DV: Distance Vision.
FT: Flat-Top Bifocal.
NV: Near Vision (reading).
OD: Latin for Oculus Dexter, denoting the right eye.
